Postdoc opportunity biophysics

The Popa lab at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is seeking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate with background in computer simulations, interested in developing experimental skills, while helping us to develop new computer simulation tools in Python for modeling protein-based biomaterials. Our research focuses on the mechanical response of proteins, both at single molecule level and inside biomaterials, and combines instrument development, protein engineering, and computer programming to study the complex response of proteins.

A successful candidate should hold a Ph.D. in biophysics, biomedical engineering, biochemistry, or related areas, with knowledge in developing computer code in Python for machine learning, and, preferably, have experience with steered molecular dynamics simulations. Experience with performing biophysics and wet-lab experiments, while not required, will be considered a plus. Other requirements are a keen curiosity, the capacity for independent research, strong work ethics, and the ability to thrive in a diverse, collaborative, and dynamic scientific environment.

To apply send your CV, a brief statement of research interests (2 pages or less), and the names of 3 supervisors and mentors who can be contacted for references to popa@uwm.edu
